As I see more and more Indian people talking about the need of electric vehicles for reducing pollution, I have to write this up.
Data shows that 72% of India's electricity comes from coal (Economic Times, May 12, 2019, written by G Seetharaman). Now first you want to burn the coal, generate electricity from it and then use it to charge the car batteries. But first have a look at the facts below:
● There is always some loss in energy conversion. So you'll be wasting let's say 20-30%(at least) of the total energy in the process of making electricity. Basic highschool science.
● Burning oil is more efficient than burning coal. Oil is cleaner than coal (but you know that already, don't you?)

You want electric vehicles? Ask for cleaner energy sources first. Start talking about alternative energy, from nuclear to wind, solar and hydro. Push Indian policymakers to adopt renewable and other cleaner energy sources. The day coal's contribution drops below 30%, I will start supporting the introduction of electric vehicles in India.
